2019 year marks 10 years of the work of the Art of Music Foundation.
To celebrate this momentous occasion we had 2 concerts featuring Ghetto Classics, the National Youth Orchestra of Kenya and the Safaricom Youth Orchestra with special performances from: Jorge Viladoms and JIMEK on November 30th and December 1st 2019.
On 30th November 2019 we hosted a black tie dinner and concert at Trademark hotel with the Art of Music Orchestra featuring the best members from Ghetto Classics, The National Youth Orchestra of Kenya and the Safaricom Youth Orchestra alongside Stephanie Schiller and Benjamin Sprick (Salut Salon) and Manolo (JIMEK’s percussionist). They were joined on stage by our 2 special guests JIMEK and Jorge Viladoms.
The concert was a wonderful showcase of all the various programs and was also the debut for Ghetto Classics choir and dance. The event highlight was the first performance of Cyndicate Kabei’s song “Asante” written by here and produced by JIMEK. What made this even more special was Cyndicate’s father gracing the occasion and getting to see is daughter perform on stage for the first time.
On the 1st of December the rain held back and we had an open air concert in Karura Forest for friends and family of the Art of Music Foundation. This concert featured all member of Ghetto Classics, GC Dance, GC Choir as well as KNYO and SYO Many of the guests have been part of the Art of Music journey as parents of performers, supporters, partners and donors, so this concert gave them an opportunity to see the growth of the Foundation.
Thank you to our generous partners: Safaricom, Protel Studios, Tribe Hotel, Trademark Hotel, MAXAM, Friends of Karura Forest, Radio Africa, Xtreme Media Solutions for helping us celebrate the occasion.
